The Plaza in Clayton

Wright Heerema Architects reimagined tenant amenities at The Plaza in Clayton, transforming two levels of the building into an inviting lounge area. By reworking the existing floorplan, we opened the space with an interconnecting stair to bring natural light to the lower level, creating a bright, welcoming environment. In line with the timeless aesthetics of this classical Class-A mixed-use building, we developed a variety of lobbies and amenities for tenants to enjoy and unwind.

Wright Heerema Architects collaborated closely with Franklin Partners to design amenity spaces on the fifth and sixth floors of The Plaza in Clayton, a suburban Class-A mixed-use building. We introduced a diverse array of lobbies and amenities to meet the evolving needs of tenants while maintaining the building's classical style.

Originally a windowless high-density storage area situated atop several levels of parking, the fifth floor underwent a remarkable transformation. WHA reimagined the space by opening the sixth-floor concrete floor slab and adding a beautiful staircase, creating a two-story lounge that brings in natural light to the fifth floor and engages tenants from the sixth floor.

Now, the fifth floor features a dynamic amenity space designed for socialization, wellness, and productivity. It includes a casual lounge, conference rooms, training room, game room, and fitness center. A staircase leads up to an additional lounge and an outdoor terrace.

The Plaza, characterized by its brick façade and classical architectural elements, provided a backdrop for our design approach. WHA complemented the existing structure with neutral furnishings that enhanced its charm. To brighten the space, we introduced geometric rugs and vibrant splashes of color. The design concept carries into the elevator banks to create a cohesive environment.

Through strategic planning and design, Wright Heerema Architects revitalized The Plaza in Clayton, adding long-lasting value for Franklin Partners. The newly integrated amenities elevate the building’s functionality and the tenant experience, while preserving its classical essence.
